Rick Lyster is in his third year as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech. He works with the Yellow Jackets’ defensive linemen.
Before arriving at Georgia Tech in 2015, Lyster was the linebackers coach at Monmouth University during the Hawks’ inaugural season in the NCAA Division I FCS Big South Conference in 2014.
Prior to starting his coaching career, he served as corporate security in the Trump Organization.
A native of Ocean, N.J., Lyster was a three-year letterwinner at Lafayette College, playing defensive line for longtime head coach Frank Tavani. Lyster earned first-team all-Patriot League honors and served as a team captain as a senior.
He graduated from Lafayette in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in international affairs.
