2004-05
Earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference honors for the second straight year, making the second team after receiving third-team honors a year ago … Also named honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press and SI.com, third team by Rivals.com … Made all-district or region teams named by the USBWA and Basketball Times.
Led Tech in scoring (15.5 points per game), assists (4.53 per game), three-point percentage (44.2 pct.), free throw percentage (86.6 pct.) and steals (1.81 per game) … ACC rankings for those categories were 12th, sixth, first (fell two FG shy of ACC minimum, but his percentage was better than the ACC leader, Raymond Felton), third and seventh, respectively … His field goal percentage of 51.4 topped ACC perimeter players and ranked fourth overall … Scored in double figures in 28 of 32 games, and scored 20 or more on nine occasions.
Also ranked 22nd in the ACC in rebound average (4.8) and second in minutes at 34.1 per game, and averaged 36.6 minutes in conference games during the regular season.
Made the ACC All-Tournament second team in leading Tech to the finals … Scored 13 points in quarterfinal game against Virginia Tech and led Tech in the finals against Duke with 19 … Did not shoot as well from the floor as he has this season (41.4 pct.), but went 5-of-8 from three-point range in the tournament and averaged 5.3 rebounds … Went just 2-for-12 (6 pts.) against No. 2 North Carolina in the semifinals, but had five assists, nine rebounds and just one turnover in 38 minutes.
In the NCAA Tournament, led Tech with 20 in its first-round win over George Washington (7-9 FG, 6 rebounds, 6 assists) … Scored 11 against Louisville.
Averaged 16.2 points over Tech[apos]s last 12 games (since B.J. Elder[apos]s return), failing to reach double figures just once (see UNC note above) … Shot 52.3 percent from the floor over that stretch, 83.3 percent from the foul line … Was the key in Tech[apos]s second-half drive to win at Miami, scoring eight straight points for the Jackets to erase a 59-51 deficit, then sealing the win with three free throws in the final minute … Went 9-for-17 from the floor against Duke, 8-of-15 at Wake Forest, 6-for-10 vs. Clemson.
Averaged 16.9 points per game in regular-season ACC games (6th in the league) … Shot 47.5 percent from the floor (6th in the league), 41.5 percent from three-point range and 88.5 percent from the free throw line (third-best) against the conference.
Became Tech[apos]s primary scorer while Elder was out with an injury, averaging 17.2 points in 10 games … Shot 46.8 percent from the floor, 43.6 percent from three-point range and 89.5 percent from the foul line in that stretch.
Scored 23 points (7-11 FG) with six assists, sinking two free throws to provide the final margin in Tech[apos]s 102-101 victory over Wake Forest on Jan. 27 … Carried the Jackets to a near-victory at No. 2 Kansas, scoring 26 points (second-best for his career behind a 29-point effort against the Jayhawks last March) on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor.
Shooting 400 to 500 jump shots a day over the summer and fall paid dividends … Career numbers for his first two seasons were 45.6 percent from the floor, 30.3 percent from three-point range.
Scoring average has steadily climbed from 9.5 as a freshman, to 12.5 last year, to 15.5 this season … Assist average has declined in proportion, from 5.97 as a freshman to 4.53 this year.
Always a good free throw shooter, Jack made significant strides even there … Made 18 in a row between the Virginia and Virginia Tech (10-for-10 vs. North Carolina, 5-for-5 at NC State) … His percentage from the stripe has risen from 70.3 as a freshman, to 80.2 as a sophomore, to 86.6 as a junior (third-highest at Tech for a full season).
2003-04
Made the All-ACC third team, one of four point guards on the third team … Averaged 12.5 points a game (2nd on the team, 17th in the ACC) and 5.61 assists per game (4th in the ACC) … Made 45.6 percent of his field goal tries and 31.6 percent of his three-point attempts … Ranked eighth in the ACC in free throw shooting (80.2 pct.), fifth in steals (1.95 per game), and 18th in rebounding (4.9).
In the NCAA Tournament: Along with Luke Schenscher, Tech[apos]s top performer in the NCAA Tournament, leading the Jackets in scoring for the tournament (11.3 ppg) while also averaging 5.0 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 2.2 steals and hitting 83.8 percent of his free throws.
Earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the St. Louis Regional … Poured in a career-best 29 points to lead the Jackets over Kansas in overtime in the regional final … Went 8-for-12 from the field and 13-for-14 from the line, and also had nine rebounds, six assists, four steals and a blocked shot … Scored eight of Tech[apos]s 13 points in the overtime.
Scored below his average but came up with big plays in Tech[apos]s wins over Northern Iowa and Boston College … In Tech[apos]s 57-54 win over BC, he put the Jackets ahead with a pair of free throws with 30 seconds left, then stole the ball and dunked with five seconds on the clock … Sealed Tech[apos]s five-point, first-round win over UNI by hitting a pair of free throws with one second left.
In ACC games only: 13.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 5.13 apg, 44.8% FG, 35.9% 3FG, 80.5%FT … Ranked 14th in scoring, 4th in assists, 7th in FT% among ACC players against the league.
Hit the game-winning shot in Tech[apos]s ACC Tournament victory over North Carolina … With Tech trailing by one point, he inbounded the ball to Marvin Lewis with seven seconds left, then took a pass from Lewis, dribbled inside the three-point line at the top of the key and nailed the 17-foot jumper with 1.4 seconds left … That shot put an exclamation point on a standout game in which he had 17 points (5-12 FG, 7-7 FT), six assists and no turnovers in Tech[apos]s 83-82 victory.
Only player to start every game for Tech … Scored in double figures in 12 of 16 ACC games, including the final six.
Earned his second ACC Player of the Week award on Mar. 6 after leading Tech to wins at Duke and over Florida State … Scored seven points in the final minute and a half at Duke to help the Jackets seal the win, and was 7-of-8 from the free throw line, finishing with 15 points … Added 18 points vs. Florida State (with 12 rebounds and 6 assists) … Also scored 21 points each at Maryland on Feb. 19 (7-13 FG) and Wake Forest Feb. 22 (7-14 FG).
Had 22 points at North Carolina, 17 in the first meeting against Maryland, 15 in the first meeting with NC State and 19 against Duke during the first half of the ACC schedule.
In two games against his home-state team, Maryland, went 12-for-22 from the floor, 4-for-7 from three-point range and 10-of-15 from the foul line while averaging 19.0 points.
Averaged 13.7 points against the 15 Top 25 teams Tech played, along with 4.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists.
Went to the free throw line more than any other Tech player, averaging 5.1 attempts in all games and 5.4 in ACC games.
Best rebounding guard in the ACC, averaged 4.9 per game (18th in the ACC) … Snared five or more in 19 games, and grabbed 28 in the last three regular-season games (career-high 12 against FSU, eight each at Clemson and Duke) … His 12 boards against FSU were the most by a Tech guard since Brian Oliver took 13 against North Carolina A&T in 1988 … Grabbed 40 over a six-game stretch early in the season (6.7 per game).
Named ACC Player of the Week after Tech[apos]s first three games in which he dished out 30 assists, averaged 14.7 points, and shot 61.5 percent from the floor … In New York he was just as impressive, averaging 14.5 points and 7.0 assists while hitting 10 of 19 shots in victories over No. 1 Connecticut and No. 25 Texas Tech.
2002-03
Ran an efficient Tech offense in the NIT, dishing out 19 assists against just six turnovers in 101 minutes as Tech averaged 74.3 points … Scored six points (3-5 FG) with nine assists, two steals and just one turnover against Ohio State; four points (2-5 FG) with nine assists and two turnovers against Iowa; 13 points (4-8 FG, 3-5 3FG) at Texas Tech … NIT averages: 7.7 ppg, 6.3 apg, 50.0% FG, 3-8 3FG, 3.16 A/TO ratio.
Averaged 10.3 points and 6.0 assists in Tech[apos]s final six games (36 assists, 13 turnovers) while hitting 52.5 percent of his shots and 81.0 percent of his free throws as Tech won four of six games.
Scored in double figures in eight of 12 games leading up to the NIT, including a career-best 21 points with seven assists Mar. 5 at Virginia … Hit 6-of-7 shots from the floor and a career-best 9-of-10 from the foul line … Scored 10 points with six assists (1 TO) and seven steals vs. NC State in the ACC Tournament.
Named ACC Rookie of the Week Feb. 10 following his 20 points against 8th-ranked Maryland … Scored the key three-point basket with 39 seconds left with the score 82-80 and three free throws in the final 30 seconds … Made 6-of-9 field goals in the game … Established career highs with 7 field goals and 17 attempts to score 19 points with eight assists vs. Wake Forest on Feb. 26.
Averaged 6.0 assists per game, fourth in the ACC and 24th nationally … Had a 1.75 assist-turnover ratio, which ranked fourth in the conference … His 185 assists ranked seventh on the all-time Tech list for a single season … Only five Tech players have ever recorded 200 in a season.

Had the second most free throw attempts on the team (83-of-118) behind Chris Bosh … Failed to go to the line only once (Syracuse, D.15). In ACC games had 77 attempts to Bosh[apos]s 78.
Had 14 double-figure scoring efforts for the season (Tech was 9-5), including 16 points in Tech[apos]s win over Georgia, making 5-of-8 field goals … Recorded a season-high 12 assists in his collegiate debut against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 9 against Cornell, Ohio State and Iowa, 8 in five other games … Led the team with 51 steals for the season and ranked fifth in the ACC (1.65 per game).
