THE FLATS — Week 5 saw many a career-firsts for #ProJackets around the National Football League as two former Tech student-athletes remained undefeated and two others scored touchdowns on Sunday afternoon.
Defensive end Michael Johnson intercepted returned his fourth-career interception for his first-career touchdown on Sunday as the Bengals had no problem dismantling the Miami Dolphins 27-17. He said on the fourth-quarter INT, “I don’t really know what happened, I just saw the ball and it stuck. Thank God I was able to hold on to it, and waddle into the end zone.” Johnson also had a season-high three combined tackles off two total tackles as well as Cincinnati scored 27 unanswered second-half points to stage the comeback.
Sunday’s win marked the second time in Bengals history they outscored a team by 24 points in the fourth quarter, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

Broncos’ wideout Demaryius Thomas also played his best game of the season when he hauled in five catches for 105 yards (21.0 yds/catch). Thomas’ weekend highlight in the 34-16 road loss to the Jets was a 42-yard toss-up in the waning moments of the game.

Outside linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu had an impressive weekend, recording his first sack since 2016 with the San Diego Chargers and his third forced fumble of his career when he stripped Case Keenum late in the second quarter en route to a 34-16 over the Denver Broncos. The Jets now rank ninth in the NFL with 14.0 total sacks.
Kicker Harrison Butker went a season-high 3-for-3 in field goals on Sunday as the Chiefs remained undefeated, defeating the Jaguars 30-14. He’s now 7-for-7 in field goals on the year and 22-for-22 on PATs.
The Broncos dropped their third-straight game on the road against the Jets, but Adam Gotsis had another fine week, tying his season high with three combined tackles, while also nabbing his first career forced fumble.
