THE FLATS – Randi Raff, who spent the last year at Indiana University, has been named assistant volleyball coach, head coach Michelle Collier announced Wednesday.
Raff, a native of Rensselaer, Ind., spent the 2015 season as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach at Indiana and prior to that spent three seasons at Northern Kentucky University as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.
“I think Randi brings in really good experience and knowledge to our program,” Collier said. “I think she is going to help us continue to move forward and accomplish our goals. She brings great energy and has seen volleyball at the highest level, and coached at the highest level. She’s a great addition to our staff.”
“I could not be more excited about joining the Georgia Tech family,” Raff said. “I think working with Michelle is going to be an amazing opportunity, and I’m excited to learn from her. I’d like to thank Michelle, Director of Athletics Mike Bobinski and Deputy Director of Athletics Brett Daniels on this incredible opportunity.”
Prior to NKU Raff spent two seasons at Division III Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Va., as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Raff helped lead the Captains to back-to-back 38-win seasons, including a national runner-up finish in 2011.
Raff was honored with the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 under 30 award, which recognizes young up-and-coming coaches among all NCAA divisions in both men’s and women’s volleyball.
Prior to her time at CNU, Raff served as an assistant coach for two seasons at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Raff earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Indiana, where she also played three seasons of volleyball and helped the Screaming Eagles to two Great Lakes Valley Conference championships. Raff continued her education at Purdue University, earning a master’s degree in health and kinesiology while serving as a graduate assistant strength coach to the Purdue volleyball, women’s golf, diving and cheer teams.
