DALLAS – The Georgia Tech volleyball team (2-2) fell 3-0 (19-25, 16-25, 17-25) at SMU (3-1) Friday night at the SMU Tournament held in Moody Coliseum.

Sophomore Annika Van Gunst led the Jackets with 10 kills. Senior Courtney Felinski added eight kills and sophomore Teegan Van Gunst contributed six kills and a team-leading 11 digs, while sophomore London Ackermann recorded seven digs.

“We faced a very good team tonight,” head coach Michelle Collier said. “SMU did a great job controlling the ball and running their offense in system. We knew coming in that we would have to put pressure on them and force them out of system, and we did not execute that. Hats off to SMU, now we have to regroup quickly as we play another great team tomorrow.”

Five service errors and seven serve receive errors proved to be costly for Georgia Tech and the Mustangs out-hit the Yellow Jackets .241 to .111 with 10 blocks to Tech’s six.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action at the SMU Tournament on Saturday with matches against Oklahoma at 11 a.m. ET and vs. Texas Southern at 5:30 p.m. ET.
