WHALEY LEADS JACKET CONTINGENT IN HOMETOWN EVENT

Vincent Whaley again performed well in a PGA Tour event in his home state, tying for 20^th place last weekend at the Charles Schwab Challenge with a 4-under-par score of 276 at Colonial Country Club. Whaley tied for 26^th at the AT&T Byron Nelson two weeks ago and tied for 34^th at the Valero Texas Open in early April. He remains inside the top 125 (121^st) in FedEx Cup points to earn a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs.

All four Yellow Jackets in the field finished among the top 50, with Cameron Tringale tying for 32^nd (277, -3), Richy Werenski tying for 45^th (277, -3) and Matt Kuchar tying for 50^th (280, even).

Five Jackets will be in the field this weekend for the Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio, including Tyler Strafaci, who earned his spot via winning the U.S. Amateur championship last summer. Stewart Cink, a two-time winner in 2020-21 who ranked eighth in FedEx Cup points, returns to action to join Kuchar, Tringale and Werenski.

SCHNIEDERJANS MAKES A COMEBACK ON KORN FERRY TOUR

Ollie Schniederjans burst back on the Korn Ferry Tour scene Sunday by firing a 9-under-par 62 in the final round of the Evans Scholars Invitational in Glenview, Ill., tying the course record at The Glens Cub. Schniederjans tied for fourth place with a tournament score of 274 (-10), his best finish of the 2020-21 wrap-around season. Schniederjans had six top-10 finishes.

The performance moved him up from 50^th to 35^th in Korn Ferry Tour points and ended a recent slide in which he had missed the cut or withdrew from six of eight events.

J.T. Griffin tied for 24^th at 280 (-4), and Anders Albertson tied for 33^rd at 281 (-3).

Seth Reeves (20^th) and Paul Haley II (22^nd), who took the week off, both remain within the top 25 in points and are in position to earn PGA Tour cards at the end of the regular season.

Drew Czuchry, who has played exclusively developmental tour events since turning pro, will join Albertson, Griffin, Haley and Reeves in the field this week at the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh, N.C. Czuchry shot a 63 to earn one of four spots from the tournament’s Monday qualifier at Bryan Park Golf Club in Greensboro, N.C.

MIZE FINISHES STRONG AT CHAMPIONS TOUR MAJOR

Larry Mize opened with a 69 and shot 70-72 over the weekend to finish in a tie for 23^rd at the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship last weekend at venerable Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. With his best finish since March of 2020, the 1987 Masters champion improved to 65^th in Charles Schwab Cup points.
