SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Georgia Tech track and field team completed day one at the Meyo Invite at the Loftus Sports Center in South Bend, Ind.
Freshman Donjhae Jones finished second in the long jump with a season-best leap of 6.02m (19’9”). Jones also finished first for Tech in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.94.
Rachel Hammond crossed the line first for Tech and 30th overall in the 1,000 meters with a time of 2:57.75. Laura Serres recorded a time of 3:00.67 in the same race.
On the men’s side, Broderick Snoddy ran a 6.79 and Perron Jones logged a 6.91 to qualify to the semi-finals in the 60-meter dash. Snoddy recorded the same time in the semi-final round to qualify for the finals on Saturday.
Freshman Spencer Allen ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8.36 (27th). Fellow freshman Myles McDavid took fifth in the long jump with a distance of 7.29m (23’11″).
The Jackets continue action Saturday with the women’s 3,000 meters at 10 a.m.
