>> Winners of four straight and seven of its last nine games, Georgia Tech hits the road this weekend for a crucial Atlantic Coast Conference series at No. 22 Virginia. The Yellow Jackets hold one of the final two spots in the ACC Tournament with two weeks remaining.
>> All three games can be heard live on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta, with Saturday’s 1 p.m. live on Fox Sports South with Bob Rathbun and Don Bonner.
>> The late-season surge has allowed the Yellow Jackets to eclipse the 30-win mark for the 30th consecutive season.
>> Tech is looking to turn the tables on Virginia after the Cavaliers took two of three at Russ Chandler Stadium last season. The Jackets lead the all-time series 65-42-2, including a 24-23 advantage in games played in Charlottesville.
>> Sophomore reliever Alex Cruz entered the week leading the country in fewest hits allowed per nine innings (4.44). The righty is second in the ACC in overall ERA (1.74). Cruz (6-1) has been credited with six of Tech’s last 13 wins.
>> Sophomore Daniel Palka is third in the ACC in homers (11), third in slugging percentage (.613) and fourth in total bases (111). Palka has recorded two walk-off hits this season, both in extra innings — a 13th-inning home run versus Clemson and an 11th-inning single vs. Charlotte.
