Women Fifth, Men 11th in ACC Preseason Coaches’ Poll

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech cross country found out where they rank in the ACC preseason coaches’ poll today. The women’s team is predicted to finish fifth after coming off a second-place finish last season at the ACC Championships. The White and Gold return top performers from last year’s silver medalists in Nicole Fegans, Liz Galarza and Claire Moritz while also welcoming a promising newcomer in Sarah Copeland.

The men’s team was picked 11th in the conference coming off a 12th place finish last season at the ACC Championships. The men’s team is full of depth and can see anyone come out of the pack as the leader of the team.

Tech cross country saw similar rankings in last season’s preseason poll. The women were ranked No. 6 before ultimately finishing second in the conference. The men were ranked No. 12 in last year’s coaches’ preseason poll.

The NCAA Championships will be held in Florida State on Nov. 20 this year. Florida State has been friendly to Georgia Tech cross country as last season both the men and women finished top three at the Florida State Invitational. 13 of the 15 ACC teams will race this weekend which should provide greater insight into where these teams stack up going into the season.

The White and Gold started their season this morning at the Kennesaw State Opener. The Jackets will be racing against Clayton State, Clemson, Life University, University of North Georgia, and University of Georgia.
