Women’s Tennis Set to Host ITA Kick-Off Weekend

THE FLATS – The 7th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team opens the 2018 home slate this weekend, hosting one of 15 ITA Kick-Off Weekends around the country. Tech welcomes Dartmouth, Denver and South Florida for the 10th annual Kick-Off Weekend, which runs Jan. 27-28 at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

THE SCENE: In total, there are 15 “regionals” played on both the men’s and women’s side, with four teams competing in each regional. The winners of the events advance to next month’s ITA Division I National Team Indoor Championships in Madison, Wisc. Host sites were determined using the final 2016-17 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings. In all, there are 60 teams competing per gender in ITA Kick-Off Weekend events.

SCHEDULE OF PLAY – Ken Byers Tennis Complex
Saturday, Jan. 27

11 a.m. – #1 Georgia Tech vs. #4 South Florida
2 p.m. – #2 Denver vs. #3 Dartmouth

Sunday, Jan. 28
10 a.m. – Consolation match
1 p.m. – Championship match

PARKING: For Saturday competition, parking for fans will be available on Fowler Street and in the McCamish Pavilion Lot. On Sunday, parking will be moved solely to the Family Housing Deck due to other sporting events on campus.

ITA RANKINGS: Georgia Tech comes into the weekend action as the 7th-ranked team in the country according to the latest ITA rankings released this week. Carrying over from the fall individual rankings, a total of six nationally-ranked singles players and a pair of nationally ranked doubles teams will compete this weekend in Atlanta.
