Women’s Basketball Tabbed No. 20 in WBCA Preseason Poll

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball was tabbed No. 20 in the 2021-22 USA Today Sports/WBCA Coaches Preseason Poll, announced on Wednesday.

Georgia Tech is one of four teams from the ACC in the top 25, joining No. 4 NC State, No. 6 Louisville and No. 24 Florida State. South Carolina sits atop the preseason poll. The Jackets were last ranked in the USA Today/WBCA Coaches Preseason Poll in 2012, coming in at No. 20 following its first trip to the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16.

Georgia Tech was also tabbed No. 17 in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 last month.

2021-22 Women’s Basketball Schedule | Purchase Season Tickets

Georgia Tech wrapped up preseason play by hosting Clayton State last Monday in an exhibition contest, defeating the Lakers, 74-53. Three Yellow Jackets finished in double-figures led by Sarah Bates and Eylia Love, each with 21 points. Bates racked up her 21 points shooting 7-for-11 from three-point range, while Love added five triples from long distance. Loyal McQueen contributed 10 points to the scoreboard. Tech’s three newcomers – freshmen Elizabete Bulane and Carmyn Harrison, and fifth-year transfer Digna Strautmane – all saw game action in the final preseason tune-up.

The Yellow Jackets officially tipoff the season at Central Michigan on Monday, Nov. 9. Tip is slated for 6 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Yellow Jackets’ competitive schedule is highlighted by 17 home games, including a visit from No. 2 UConn on Thursday, Dec. 9. Season tickets for the 2021-22 women’s basketball season are on sale now.
