Two Yellow Jackets Earn Academic All-District 3

Nov. 8, 2007

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech senior center Kevin Tuminello and junior defensive tackle Darryl Richard were named to the ESPN The Magazine-sponsored Academic All District 3 team, it was announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Tuminello, a candidate for the Rimington Trophy, has started 35 consecutive games for the Yellow Jackets. The Youngstown (Ohio) native leads an offensive line that ranks first in the ACC and third nationally in fewest sacks allowed. Tuminello has also been instrumental in Tech leading the ACC in rushing offense.

Richard, a starter on the Yellow Jacket defensive line, graduated from Georgia Tech in just three years and is currently enrolled in graduate school. Richard has 6.0 tackles-for-loss 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble this season.

By earning a spot on the Academic All-District team, Tuminello and Richard advance to the ballot for Academic All-American.
