Track & Field Finishes up Action at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Several members of the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track & field teams registered several impressive finishes at the 125th Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, which finished up on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, Tech was led by seniors Alphonso Jordan and Omar Morrison, who finished fourth in championship and college divisions of the triple jump, respectively. Jordan posted a mark of 52 feet, 2.5 inches in the finals, while Morrison finished with a leap of 48 feet, 10.25 inches.

Yesterday, sophomore Jhanelle McLeod also finished fourth in the women’s portion of the triple jump with a mark of 40 feet, 0.75 inches. Meanwhile, on the first day of competition on Thursday, sophomore Bianca Stewart finished second in the high jump (5 feet, 7.75 inches), while Mary Kate DuBard was seventh in the 10,000 meter championship (35:15.67).

The Georgia Tech track & field team’s return to action on Saturday, May 1st when they host a dual meet against both Clemson and Kennesaw State at Griffin Track. Competition gets underway at 12 noon.
