CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior Tiffany Grant won the women’s 400 meter dash to lead the Georgia Tech Track & Field team on the final day of the Clemson Invitational on Saturday.
Grant won the 400 meters with a time of 56.98 in the finals. With the win, Grant became the fourth Georgia Tech athlete to win an event on the weekend, as Mary Kate DuBard (5000 meter run), Alphonso Jordan (triple jump) and Jhanelle McLeod (triple jump) were victorious in yesterday’s action.
Also in the women’s 400 meter dash, Kellie Christian finished third with a time of 58.75. In the men’s 5000 meter run, D.J. McMillan was Tech’s best finisher in fifth place with a time of 16:17.20.
Next up in the women’s 200 meter dash, Jenae Anderson and Grant crossed the finish line in 25.49 to finish in a tie for second. In the men’s portion of the 200 meter dash, Michael Simms was the Jackets’ top finisher with a time of 22.84, good enough for a third place finish.
Tech finished things off on the weekend in the men’s weight throw, in which Duncan Thompson registered a second place finish with a 51’10” effort in the finals, while in the men’s pole vault; Aaron Unterberger also finished second with a 14’5″ throw in the finals.
The Yellow Jackets return to the track on Jan. 15 when they take part in the Kentucky Invitational in Lexington, Ky.
