COLUMBIA, S.C. – The first day of the Carolina Challenge concluded on Friday with Georgia Tech track & field posting four top five finishes and seven more finishes in the top 10.
The top finisher on the day was Olivia Moore who placed second in the women’s pole vault with a mark of 4.05m (13’3.5”).
Three more Tech track & field athletes finished in the top five of their events with Lydia Troupe placing third in the women’s 400m (57.45). Taylor Grimes continued to post top times in the women’s 60 hurdles clocking in at 8.50 at the finals. William O’Reilly took home fourth in the men’s 3000m (8:36.19).
The 3000m continues to be a source of success for the Jackets as three more top 10 times were posted in this event. Jackson Borden finished sixth (8:36.33) and Jean-Lou Pare finished tenth (8:48.98) in the men’s 3000m. On the women’s side, Erin Fegans placed sixth in the women’s 3000m (10:29.74).
In the men’s one mile, Tristan Autry and David Reteneller finished eighth (4:17.18) and tenth (4:18.16), respectively. Reese Crawford posted a seventh-place finish in the 400m (58.30) and Jill Catton finished eighth in the 200m (25.36).
The White and Gold compete at day two of the Carolina Challenge on Saturday starting at 12:00 p.m.
