Three Yellow Jackets Set To Play In Super Bowl XLII

Georgia Tech will be well-represented Feb. 3 in Super Bowl XLII in Glendale, Arizona. Three former Yellow Jackets — safety James Butler, tight end Michael Matthews and linebacker Gerris Wilkinson — all play for the New York Giants.

Butler, a third-year safety, was the Giants’ fifth-leading tackler, despite missing three games in 2007. He had 58 total tackles, 42 solo tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery.

Wilkinson, a second-year linebacker, played in 13 regular season games and saw significant action on special teams. He had eight tackles on the season including five solo tackles.

Matthews, a rookie tight end, played in all 16 regular season games. He had six receptions on the season for 28 yards.
