Three Jackets Named Golf All-America Scholars

Norman, Okla. – Georgia Tech’s Bartley Forrester, Christo Lamprecht and Ross Steelman have been named All-America Scholars for NCAA Division I by the Golf Coaches Association of America. It is the eighth time since the inception of the program that three or more Yellow Jackets have been honored.

Forrester (Gainesville, Ga./senior/business administration) and Steelman (Columbia, Mo./senior/history, technology and society) have each been honored for the third time, while Lamprecht (George, South Africa/junior/business administration) made the list for the second time. Forrester and Steelman each graduated in May.

Forrester was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic golf team earlier in the spring. Lamprecht and Steelman were named to the GCAA’s All-America teams for their on-course performance in 2022-23.

Ranked No. 6 nationally by Golfstat and No 5 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index, Lamprecht won the Inverness Intercollegiate and had three runner-up finishes in 2022-23. Steelman was the NCAA Championship individual runner-up and finished the spring No. 5 in the Golfstat individual ranking and No. 8 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index. Forrester finished in the top 100 in the Golfstat national rankings.

To be eligible for GCAA All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate’s Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

548 NCAA Division I athletes from 194 schools earned 2022-23 GCAA All-America Scholar honors.
