Teegan Van Gunst Named Academic All-District

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech junior outside hitter Teegan Van Gunst was named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 4 First Team, as announced Thursday by CoSIDA. The honor marks the second of Van Gunst’s career as she was named to the second team last season.

A native of Fayetteville, Ga., Van Gunst maintains a 3.97 GPA in mechanical engineering, and was named to the 2014 All-ACC Academic Team and was twice named to the ACC Honor Roll.

This season she was named the ACC Player of the Week twice, and leads the ACC in total kills (361), points (400.5) and points/set (4.50), and is second in kills/set (4.05). She has 15 double-doubles on the season, and has 19 matches with 10+ kills, including five matches with 20+ kills, and 18 matches with 10+ digs.

Van Gunst and the Yellow Jackets host Duke and Wake Forest this weekend. Action begins Friday at 7 p.m. against the Blue Devils and continues on Sunday at 1 p.m. against the Demon Deacons. Both matches will air on ESPN3.
