THE FLATS – After a standout career on and off the court, senior outside hitter Teegan Van Gunst will be awarded an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship. The news comes less than a month after she was awarded an ACC Post-Graduate Scholarship and was also named the ACC Scholar-Athlete of the year.
Van Gunst, a mechanical engineering major from Fayetteville, Ga, is just the ninth Yellow Jacket all-time at Georgia Tech to earn this honor. She is just one of 29 NCAA female student-athletes that earned the award from the fall sports season.
She is a four-time All-ACC Academic team member and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, earning first team recognition this past season. Adding to her accolades, Van Gunst is a two-time AVCA All-Region selection and a two-time AVCA Honorable Mention All-American. The Yellow Jacket has also been an All-ACC First Team member, twice.
She finished her career tied for 10th on Georgia Tech’s all-time career kills list (1,453) and 10th on the Georgia Tech single-season kills list (507). Van Gunst helped the Yellow Jackets tie for third in the ACC and to their best season in terms of overall (.750) and ACC (.750) winning percentages in 12 years – since 2004 (.794 overall, 1.000 ACC).
