PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Senior All-ACC high jumper Michael Massey tied for first place in the men’s high jump with a NCAA Region qualifying mark of 6’11.75″ to lead the Georgia Tech men’s track and field team this afternoon at the Penn Relays. Senior ACC champion Amandi Rhett qualified for the finals tomorrow in the women’s 100-meter dash with a NCAA Region mark of 11.59 to lead the women’s track and field team.
Other top-10 finishers for the Yellow Jackets were sophomores Brandy Depland and Simone Parker. Parker finished sixth in the women’s discus with a NCAA Region mark of 158’10”, while Depland tallied a NCAA Region mark of 41’05.75′ in the women’s triple jump to finish in eighth place.
In the men’s shot put, ACC champion Zeb Sion finished 13th with a toss of 52’10.00″, while junior Jonathan Spillman posted a mark of 51’07.75″.
Junior transfer Holt McPherson tallied a 14th-place finish in the men’s long jump with a mark of 23’04.75″. Senior Neta Ezer ran the 10,000 meters for the Jackets and finished 16th with a season-best time of 36:43.79.
Sophomore Lauren Reimer posted a personal-record toss of 43’01.00″ in the women’s shot put to finish in 17th place for the Rambling Wreck.
The women’s 4×200-meter relay team of Ashlee Kidd, Andriane Lapsley, Dana Rogers and Rhett finished 10th in the preliminaries of the event with a time of 1:35.15. The men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Brian Ford, Matthew Trester, Brandon Duckett and Jordan Crosby crossed the finish line with a time of 3:15.59.
