FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Georgia Tech sophomore Brendon Mahoney’s seventh-place finish in the mile earned All-America honors at the 2002 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at the University of Arkansas’ Randal Tyson Track Center. Sophomore Renee Metivier also earned All-America honors for the second time of the championships.
Mahoney posted a time of 4:05.16 to post his first indoor All-American finish. He earned All-America honors in the outdoor 800 meters in 2000.
On the women’s side, Metivier posted her second All-America finish of the championships, placing 11th in the 3000 meters. She was ninth in Friday’s 5000, which was also good for All-America accolades.
Mahoney’s finish gives the Jackets two points in the men’s team score.
