Tech's Jaime Wong Falls in ITA All-American Qualifying Round

Oct. 9, 2002

Pacific Palisades, Calif. — Georgia Tech senior women’s tennis player Jaime Wong came up just short of earning a berth in the Riviera/ITA All-American Main Draw, dropping her qualifying-round match at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., on Wednesday.

Wong, who was the 12th-seeded player in the draw, battled in the first set with Florida’s Alexis Gordon, before dropping the frame in a tiebreaker by a 7-6 (5) score. She was unable to rally in the second set, as Gordon took control for a 6-3 win.

Wong and the rest of the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will return to action on October 18-20 at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Full results of the Riviera/ITA All-American tournament are available at www.itatennis.com.
