SAN DIEGO — The 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team picked up its second win in as many days during its trip to California, defeating No. 44 San Diego State by a 4-3 score in Monday afternoon.
Tech (9-2) battled back against the Aztecs (5-5)after dropping two of three doubles matches to open play on the day, with the Jackets’ lone win coming at the No. 3 with Jaime Wong and Fallon Koon picking up an 8-4 victory.
In singles play, the match came down to the No. 2 match, which was the final match to finish. Georgia Tech’s Jaime Wong fought off match point to win a 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 decision and clinch the match for the Yellow Jackets.
Tech was able to win the No. 2 through No. 5 singles matches and only dropped the No. 1 and No. 6 matches in the win.
The Yellow Jackets will conclude their West Coast swing on Wednesday with a match against 29th-ranked Pepperdine.
