ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team will begin preparations for the 2003-04 season in earnest on October 17, by hosting “The Ball at Midnight” at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
Admission to the event is free and the festivities will get underway at 9:30 p.m., with live music and free food being provided to all in attendance. At 10:30 p.m., a number of contests will take place, with various prizes being given away throughout the night. Players will be available for autographs during the evening and fans will get their first chance to see the 2004 edition of the Yellow Jackets, including new head coach MaChelle Joseph and her staff, at 11:50 p.m., when the team will be introduced. Tech will then compete in an intrasquad scrimmage at 12:10 a.m., to close out the evening.
The Yellow Jackets return four starters and 12 letterwinners from a team that finished the 2003 campaign with a 20-11 record and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1993. Leading the returnees is senior All-America candidate Fallon Stokes, who averaged 15.7 points and 6.5 rebounds a year ago. Fellow seniors Alex Stewart and Megan Isom will join her in the starting lineup, while sophomore Megan Harpring also returns to the starting backcourt.
