GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech wrapped up the 2013 ACC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday night in Greensboro, N.C. and the Yellow Jackets scored 158 points over the four-day meet which was good for eighth place.

“It was a good night for us, with a handful of personal best times,” said head coach Courtney Shealy Hart. “But we’re not satisfied with an eighth-place finish. I challenged our team that they have to start thinking about next season right now. With how tough this conference is, we need to begin to prepare for next season right away.”

Freshman diver Shannon Lumbra, who scored points in all three events in her rookie season, placed 12th overall on the platform Saturday with a score of 219.15. Teammate Ashley Hardy posted a score 217.00 on the platform and finished one spot behind Lumbra.

Sarah Williford finished 15th overall in the 1,650 free and her time of 16:54.32 ranks as a personal best and the second-fastest in school history. Senior Kate Riley was 15th in the 100 free, and her time of 49.99 in prelims also stands as the second-fastest Tech history. She is just the second Jacket to ever break the 50-second mark.

Carly Sweeney was clocked at 2:00.80 in the finals of the 200 back to finish 16th, after a time of 2:01.01 in the prelims.

Tech’s 400 free relay of Lexi Weber, Riley, Erika Staskevicius and Hailey White closed the meet with an eighth-place finish in a time of 3:23.10.

Virginia scored 832 points and claimed its sixth-consecutive title.

The ACC men’s swimming championship commences next Wednesday in Greensboro.
