THE FLATS – Georgia Tech swimming and diving return home to face ACC opponents, Pitt and Boston College, on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. The three teams will compete in 16 events, beginning with the 200 medley relays.
Athletes will compete in the 400 free relays instead of the 200-yard race and will swim the 1650 free for the first time this season.
Last time out, Tech earned several top finishes despite falling to Florida State. Mert Kilavuz recorded a new pool record when he championed the men’s 1000 free (9:04.11) and placed second in the 500 free (4:24.64). Deniz Ertan was once again victorious in the women’s 1000 free (9:49.86) and placed third in the 200 breast (2:13.89).
Batur Ünlü and Brooke Switzer represented Tech in the 200 free events. Ünlü took home second for the men (1:37.02) and Switzer came in third for the women (1:49.77).
Matt Steele was another top performer for the Jackets. Steele placed second in both the 100 breast (54.79) and 200 breast (2:00.97).
In the women’s diving events, Anna Bradescu placed second in the 1 Meter (260.78) and took home third in the 3 Meter (269.40).
The last time that Tech faced Pitt and Boston College was at the 2022 ACC Championships. The Jackets’ performances at the meet led the men and women to higher finishes than both teams.
Competitive Drive Initiative
In a unified endeavor, Georgia Tech, the Georgia Tech Foundation, Georgia Tech athletics and the Alexander-Tharpe Fund have come together to accelerate funding for student-athlete scholarships with the launch of the Competitive Drive Initiative. The initiative kicks off with the Accelerate GT Match Program, where any new gift to the A-T Fund’s Athletic Scholarship Fund made through Dec. 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Georgia Tech Foundation, up to $2.5 million. Should Accelerate GT reach its $2.5 million fundraising goal, the matching gift would result in a $5 million impact for Georgia Tech athletics.
