ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s basketball team (19-6, 5-5 ACC) opens its final stretch of the regular season when it travels to Boston College (17-8, 5-5) Monday, Feb. 18. Tip-off at the Slive O. Conte Forum is slated for 7:06 p.m.
The game will be televised live on the Atlantic Coast Conference Regional Sports Networks (Fox Sports South in Atlanta). Beth Mowins and Debbie Antonelli will call all the action. Tech fans can also listen to Richard Musterer and Theresa Wenzel call the game on WREK radio (91.1 FM/www.wrek.org), Georgia Tech women’s basketball’s flagship station.
“This has been a great week to have a bye week as it gave us the opportunity to rest and regroup heading into the final stretch of ACC play,” head coach MaChelle Joseph said. “Our kids are focused and have a sense of urgency. We have a lot of respect for Boston College and look forward to a great ACC match-up on Monday night.”
The Yellow Jackets will meet the Eagles for fifth time in the history of the two programs. Tech holds a 3-1 advantage overall but the series is tied 1-1 since BC joined the ACC before the 2005-06 season. The two teams are currently tied for sixth place in the ACC with 5-5 records coming into this game.
The game will feature four of the conferences top freshmen. Alex Montgomery and Iasia Hemingway are the third and fourth leading scorers for Tech this season, respectively. The Eagles are led by 6-4 forward Stephanie Murphy and 6-6 center Carolyn Swords.
BC has designated this game as its “Think Pink” game. The Jackets hosted their “Think Pink” game last Sunday as they donned pink uniforms to aid in the fight against breast cancer.
Fans in Atlanta are invited to join The Wreckin’ Crew, the women’s basketball booster club, Monday night at the 11th Street Six Feet Under restaurant for a Georgia Tech viewing party. Help cheer on the Jackets beginning at 6 p.m.
Tech will continue its two-game road swing next Sunday, Feb. 24 when it travels to Clemson for a 2 p.m. tip at Littlejohn Coliseum.
