THE FLATS –The Georgia Tech track and field team completed the first day of the Georgia Tech Invitational on Friday evening at the Griffin Track.
Patrick Barron finished first in his even for the Yellow Jackets, winning the men’s 5000m run with a time of 14:36.46. Troy Hayden finished fourth in the 5000m (15:15.75) while Witt Nixtook eighth (15:26.61).
Spencer Allen ran a 14.37 in the 110m hurdles preliminaries, but was just three spots out from qualifying for the finals. In the men’s 100m dash, Broderick Snoddyalso fell right outside of qualifying for the finals, coming in ninth with a time of 10.42. The top-eight finishers in both events qualified for the finals.
Nikita Kirvillov’s jump of 5.28m placed him in second in the pole vault. Nathan Danielalso competed in the pole vault and took ninth with a mark of 4.78m.
Julienne McKee hit the mark of 6.19m in the long jump, placing third. Her teammate Donjhae Jones finished with a jump 5.88m which put her in 11th. Carissa Tiplerfinished 13th with a mark of 5.75m.
In the women’s 1500m run, Morgan Jackson claimed a 14th place finish with a time of 4:31.62. Caroline Kissel came in 26th (4:41.33) while Laura Serrestook 30th (4:43.39). Kaylee Issacs represent the Yellow Jackets in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, finishing in 11:51.15 which put her in ninth.
Jeremy Greenwald placed in the top-three of the men’s 1500m, running to a third place finish with a time of 3:46.61. In 17th was Chris Burnett with a time of 3:58.66. Finishing in 21st and 23rd place was Patrick Fleming(4:00.56) and Grant Hicks (4:00.82), respectively.
Ten Jackets competed in the women’s 5000m run. Five Jackets finished third through seventh, with Katie Townsend leading the way in third with a time of 17:09.50. Laura Nelson finished fourth (17:35.12), Kelly Meyer took fifth (17:35.12) and Melissa Fairly finished sixth (17:38.77). Alisson Brackin rounded out the top seven with a time of 17:40.39. Hayley Keadey finished 10th (18:00.52) while Elena Hubbard’s time of 18:31.79 put her in 13th. Elizabeth Lacksen claimed 14th (18:38.28) while Sarah Bowles finished right behind her in 15th (18:43.05). Paige Selentfinished 17th with a time of 19:15.50.
The Yellow Jacket invitational continues tomorrow with the women’s high jump and women’s pole vault kicking off at 11 a.m.
