ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field squads will head out to Blacksburg, Va. for the VT Elite Meet on February 4 and 5. This is the second time this season that the Jackets have competed in back-to-back weekends and the first time this indoor season that they have competed in Virginia.
The meet will be a clash of the ACC and SEC with BIG EAST’s Louisville thrown into the mix and will be a preview of the ACC Championship to be held at the same arena at the end of the month.
Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, NC State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest will all be competing at the meet. This group is comprised of eight ACC teams, three SEC teams and a BIG EAST team, as well as five nationally ranked teams.
Tech is coming off of an impressive showing at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational in Lexington, Ky. where senior Joanna Wright broke the school record in the pole vault with an NCAA Automatic qualifying jump of 4.30 meters (14-1.75). The Jackets recorded 13 top-10 finishes at the meet, also earning some season best times.
