CLEMSON, S.C. – On their final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational, the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams saw five top-three finishes including a pole vault victory from Joanna Wright, her fourth of the season.
Wright notched a height of 3.97 meters to earn the victory, while her teammate Erica Penk brought home a top-five finish with her fourth place showing of 3.67 meters.
In other field events on the day, the duo of Julienne McKee and Jhanelle McLeod finished second and fourth respectively in the triple jump. McKee launched herself 12.56 meters, while McLeod was right behind her with a distance of 12.37 meters. On the men’s side, Jonathan Gardner earned a sixth place finish with a jump of 14.24 meters.
In track events on the day, Jenae Anderson kept the momentum going from her outstanding performance on day one to earn a second place showing in the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.01 seconds. Her teammate Leslie Njoku was right behind her coming across in 25.02 for a third place finish.
The men’s 3,000m run saw a 3-4 finish for Philip O’Brien and Joe Fulton who crossed the line in 8:38.07 and 8:42.33 respectively while Niall Longobardi came across in 11th place with a time of 8:55.58.
The track teams will have a week off before they return to action at the ACC Championships in the final week of February. The meet will take place from February 24-26 at Virginia Tech.
