THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech swimming and diving teams will be sending a handful of athletes to the Auburn Invitational this weekend. Competition starts on Friday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. and will continue Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m.
Last weekend, the Jackets recorded dominating performances as they defeated both Carson Newman and Gardner-Webb. In total, Tech swept 11 events on Friday and 11 events on Saturday. The divers also competed in a separate meet against Miami, Florida State and Auburn. Tech recorded a first-place finish in the women’s platform event and several Zone B qualifying scores.
The upcoming invitational will serve as a chance for several Jackets to improve their times and earn a spot on Tech’s squad that will compete at the ACC Championships.
In the January CSCAA Division I Poll, the men’s team still ranks at No. 21 in the nation. At this invitational, Tech will face swimmers from many nationally-ranked programs including No. 3/7 Florida, No. 11/15 Georgia, No. 16 Florida State, No. 9 Auburn and No. 15/8 Alabama.
