Tech Men Excel at Last Chance Meets

ATLANTA – Dave Ford finished .01 seconds off his season-best time in the 60-meter hurdles to place second as he led the Georgia Tech men’s track & field team at this weekends Last Chance meets.

Ford, leading a group at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., crossed the line second in the 60m hurdles with a time 7.99 seconds. The men’s distance medley relay team would place seventh with a time of 10:04.80.

In the men’s long jump, James Lemons II landed in fifth place with a mark of 23 feet, 10 ¾ inches. He was followed by Nigel Orr, who finished sixth, with a mark of 23 feet, 6 ¼ inches.

At the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet, Steve Marcelle placed eighth in the shot put with a mark of 57 feet, 10 ½ inches. Finishing in ninth place was Andy Powlen, who had mark of 57 feet, 9 ¾ inches.

The men will next compete at the NCAA Championships on Fri.-Sat., March 13-14 at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
