THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball (17-14, 6-10 ACC) returns to the postseason for the first time since 2009 hosting USF, College of Charleston and St. John’s in the first and second rounds Nov. 29-30 at O’Keefe Gymnasium.
Tech will face off against South Florida at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29 on ACC Network Extra. Head coach Michelle Collier played her collegiate career for the Bulls and is the only volleyball player in USF history to have her jersey retired. It marks the second time the Jackets have faced USF since Collier took the helm of the program. The first meeting was a 3-1 victory for the White and Gold in her second season back in 2015.
Freshmen outside hitters Mariana Brambilla and Mikaila Dowd earned conference honors, announced by the league office earlier this week. Dowd was tabbed to the all-ACC second team and all-freshman team. Brambilla joined Dowd on the all-freshman team. The duo is the first Tech freshman tandem to be honored by the ACC since Talisa Kellogg and Callie Miller in 2005.
The Jackets will host a neutral site match between College of Charleston and St. John’s at 4 p.m. on Thursday. The winners of the first round matches will go on to play at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30 in O’Keefe Gymnasium.
