THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team concluded a successful weekend of competition with two wins in its Sunday doubleheader against Wofford and Alabama State. The Jackets took down Wofford 7-0 and beat Alabama State 6-1
MATCH 1 vs. WOFFORD:
Tech went 2-1 in doubles and clinched the first point of the match. Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel defeated Callum Rendle and Max Graham, 6-3. Keshav Chopra and Elias Shokry took down Ashe Ray and Robbie Young, 6-3, putting Tech up 1-0 going into singles.
The Jackets swept Wofford in singles play with five of their players winning in two-straight sets. McDaniel quickly defeated his opponent, blanking Wofford’s Rendle 6-0, 6-0. Martin, Robert Bauer and Chopra followed behind McDaniel with three wins, raising the score to 3-0. Shokry took the first set from Wofford’s Horn and achieved a 7-6 [7-3] tiebreak victory in the second set. Rohan Sachdev was forced to play three sets with Wofford’s Fullet. After falling 3-6 in the second, Sachdev came back with an impressive 10-2 win.

MATCH 2 vs. ALABAMA STATE:
Tech clinched the quickly doubles point from Alabama State with back-to-back wins. Martin/McDaniel and Chopra/Shokry earned 6-1 victories and improved to 2-0 on the day as pairs.
In singles play, the Jackets went 5-1. Once again, McDaniel claimed Tech’s first singles win in a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Ruan Du Preez. Martin’s and Sachdev’s two-set wins gave Tech the automatic team victory. The two teams played out all of the singles matches. Chopra claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win over Alabama State’s Bajracharya and Shokry concluded singles play with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Alabama State’s Verlaguet.
