THE FLATS – On the first day of women’s competition at the NCAA East Preliminaries, Georgia Tech track and field’s Sheleah Harris and Liz Galarza raced in the 100m and 10,000 meters.
Harris kicked off competition in the first round of the women’s 100m. The junior recorded a personal-best time of 11.36, which is tied for third best on Georgia Tech’s Women Outdoor All-Time Top Performers list. She finished in 25th place overall.
Galarza competed in her final collegiate meet of her career. In a competitive 10,000 meters race, the senior battled it out to place 17th overall with a time of 34:19.87. In the final 400m, Galarza had the fastest split as she ran a time of 1:08.39 and jumped multiple spots in the race.
Tech continues competition tomorrow the men’s discus at 1 p.m., men’s 3000m steeplechase at 5:40 p.m. and the men’s triple jump at 6 p.m.
