Talisa Kellogg Becomes Third Georgia Tech Volleyball Signee

Nov. 17, 2004

Talisa Kellogg (Westerville, Ohio), a 6-1 outside hitter, signed a national letter of intent to attend Georgia Tech, head volleyball coach Bond Shymansky announced Wednesday.

Kellogg becomes the third high school player from the state of Ohio to sign with the Yellow Jackets, joining Callie Miller, a 6-1 middle blocker from Whitehouse and Allie Niekamp, a 6-0 setter, from Findlay.

A member of the USA Junior National team in 2004, Kellogg has been listed by prepvolleyball.com as the No. 19 prospect on the Senior Aces List, as well as the No. 10 outside hitter in her class by the same organization.

“Talisa is yet another great additiont ot our 2005 recruiting class,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “Her dynamic athleticism is matched only by her dymanic personality. She’s a dominating blocker, a deceptive and powerful hitter and has developed strong backrow skills in the past year.”

The daughter of current college basketball analyst Clark Kellogg, Talisa is a four-year letterwinner who led St. Francis Desales to the state semifinals this year and is a first team all-state selection. An excellent student who is the secretary of her student council, Kellogg plays for the Central Ohio Volleyball Club coached by Max Miller, which qualified for the Club Division at the Junior Olympics in 2004 and earned all-tournament honors while leading her team to a seventh place finish out of 23 teams.

“Talisa’s training with the Junior National team will pay dividends for her as she contends for a starting role with our team next year,” said Shymansky. “She has an amazing passion for the game and fire on the court which will be an integral part to the future success of our program and we’re counting on her leadership skills when she becomes a Yellow Jacket.”
