ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s (1-4, 0-2 ACC) and women’s (4-4, 0-2) swimming and diving teams will host an invitation this weekend featuring teams from Duke, Florida State, NC State, Miami (women only), Florida Atlantic and LSU. Action gets underway Friday with preliminaries beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the finals at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday’s preliminary rounds are set for 9:30 a.m.
Friday’s events are the 200-yard freestyle relay, women’s three-meter diving, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, men’s one-meter diving and the 400-yard medley relay. On Saturday’s docket is the 200-yard medley relay, men’s three-meter diving, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, women’s one-meter diving and the 800-yard free relay. The weekend concludes on Sunday with the 1,650-yard free, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard free, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly, platform diving and the 400-yard free relay.
All events will be swum as prelims and finals with the exception of the 1,650-yard free. All finals will consist of three heats of eight except relays will be two heats. Relays will be swum during finals with a prelim swim option and each team can swim two relays during finals with the fastest relay from each team in the championship. For the 1,650-yard free, the fastest eight men and women 1,000-yard seed times will be swum at finals. The remaining heats will be swum slowest to fastest alternating men and women immediately following the morning prelim swim. Each swimmer may swim in four individual events and unlimited relays Team scores using championship scoring through 16 places
