CLEMSON, S.C. – Freshman Mellany Stanislaus finished first in the women’s triple jump with a mark of 40 feet, 6 inches, to lead the Georgia Tech women’s track and field team at the Orange & Purple Classic on Saturday.
Freshman April Phillips tallied a first-place finish in the women’s shot put with a mark of 46 feet.
Sophomore Shantia Moss finished second in the women’s 100-meter high hurdles with a NCAA Region time of 13.45. Junior Fatmata Fofanah finished fourth with a NCAA Region time of 13.71 for Tech.
Senior Misty Dirksen finished second in the women’s 800 meters with a time of 2:12.07. Junior Ashlee Kidd clocked a time of 24.10 in the women’s 200-meter dash to finish in third place for the Jackets.
Senior Jewel Welch finished second in the women’s discus with a mark of 155 feet, 2 inches, for Tech. Freshman Kimery Hern finished fourth with a mark of 153 feet, 9 inches.
The Yellow Jackets will host the Georgia Tech Invitational, May 12-13, at the Griffin Track. The meet is free admission.
