Shardonay Blueford has been a member of Georgia Tech athletics’ compliance staff since 2013. She came to The Flats as assistant director of compliance, was promoted to associate director of compliance in 2017 and was named director of compliance in 2019.

In her role, she assists with the daily operations of the compliance office that monitors 17 intercollegiate sports with specific responsibilities in financial aid, roster management, elite student-athletes, agent education and student assistance fund.

Before being hired at Georgia Tech, Blueford spent two years as the first full-time assistant athletic director for compliance at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, N.Y. There she oversaw all areas of compliance and academics for the college’s 18 intercollegiate sports in accordance with NCAA and NE-10 Conference regulations. Blueford served as the point person for all NCAA and NE-10 inquires along with the Saint Rose Compliance Committee and volunteered in various other departments throughout campus.

Blueford is a member of Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA) and National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC). In the summer of 2012, Blueford was selected as a participant for the Division II Governance Academy and is a NCAA Leadership Institute graduate.

Prior to her time at Saint Rose, Blueford spent a year as the compliance assistant at Harvard University in Boston, Mass., where she helped monitor 41 varsity sports that served more than 1,200 student-athletes. In addition, she aided the Crimson’s Recreation Department as a front desk manager and recreation specialist involved in all facets of managing the facility, which is a Boston Sports Club affiliate gym.

Blueford completed her master’s degree in sports studies at High Point University in December 2010. During her graduate studies in the summer of 2009, Blueford was selected to participate in the United States Olympic Committee’s Finding Leaders Among Minorities Everywhere (FLAME) program.

A 2008 graduate of Norfolk State University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, Blueford was an outside hitter on the women’s volleyball team from 2005-08 and a member of the women’s basketball team during 2005-06. She was a two-time team volleyball captain and also garnered team MIP honors as a junior and MVP accolades as a senior. Blueford furthermore earned a spot on the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) all-academic team throughout her four years by maintaining a GPA above 3.00.

She also volunteered in various aspects within the athletics department for two years and served as the secretary for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) throughout her college career.

A native of Chesapeake, Va., she is the second oldest of five siblings and is the proud aunt of two nieces and two nephews.
