Andy Demetra became the “Voice of the Yellow Jackets” on the Georgia Tech Sports Network in August 2016.

In addition to serving as the play-by-play broadcaster for football and men’s basketball on Tech’s statewide radio network and SiriusXM, Demetra hosts Georgia Tech football and men’s basketball’s radio call-in and television shows. He also periodically serves as play-by-play announcer for Georgia Tech women’s basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball telecasts on ACC Network Extra, and has served as the voice of the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream’s home telecasts and the TV play-by-play voice for selected Chicago Bulls road games.

Outside of his radio and TV broadcasts, he is the author of “Inside The Chart,” a weekly feature column for RamblinWreck.com, which won a 2016 South Carolina Press Association Award for “Best Series of Sports Articles, All Divisions.” He is also the host of the “Toddcast,” Georgia Tech’s monthly podcast with director of athletics Todd Stansbury.

Prior to his role with the Yellow Jackets, Demetra spent seven seasons as the Director of Broadcasting and play-by-play voice for the South Carolina Gamecocks, primarily covering men’s basketball and baseball. He was named the 2005 and 2006 South Carolina Broadcasters Association Radio Sportscaster of the Year, becoming the youngest recipient of the award in the organization’s 60-year history.

His television play-by-play credits include SEC Network, Pac-12 Network and Fox Sports South.

A native of Oak Brook, Ill., Demetra (pronounced duh-MEH-truh) graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University in 2003 with bachelor’s degrees in broadcast journalism and Spanish literature.
