Abigail Akpobiyeri is a sport psychology extern at the Georgia Institute of Technology and a clinical psychology doctoral candidate at Mercer University–Atlanta, specializing in health psychology and sport and performance psychology.
As a master’s level clinician and advanced doctoral extern, she has built extensive clinical experience across private practice, inpatient and outpatient hospital settings, and at Georgia Tech’s Center for Mental Health Care and Resources.
Akpobiyeri earned her master’s in sport and performance psychology from the University of Denver. From 2021-2024, she contracted with the NFL to administer sport-specific cognitive assessments supporting draft selection. She collaborated with several NFL franchises as a performance consultant, delivering position-specific performance reports, coaching insights, and scouting analyses.
A native of North Carolina, Akpobiyeri is a proud alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she competed on the UNC All-Girl Cheer team and served in a student-leadership role with the Carolina Athletics Association.
