THE FLATS – Georgia Tech golfer Ollie Schniederjans has been male “Player of the Mid-Season” by Golf World magazine after the Yellow Jacket junior won two tournaments in the fall and earned top-five finishes in two others.
Schniederjans won the season-ending United States Collegiate Championship in Alpharetta, Ga., by four strokes with a 10-under par 206 for 54 holes, two shots shy of the tournament scoring record. The Powder Springs, Ga., native also shared medalist honors at the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate with a 9-under-par score of 207.
In between, he finished third at the Tar Heel Intercollegiate (-3) and tied for fourth at the Brickyard Collegiate (-8). At the Brickyard, he finished one stroke out of a three-way tie for the lead. His performances helped Tech win twice and earn two runner-up finishes in four fall events.
Schniederjans posted a cumulative scoring average of 69.5 and a won-lost record of 309-5 with 11 of 12 rounds at par or under. He finished the fall No. 1 in the Golfstat men’s rankings and No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Index.
