Schniederjans and Hagy Lead off for USA at Palmer Cup

Walton-on-the-Hill, England – Georgia Tech’s Ollie Schniederjans and California’s Brandon Hagy have been paired together and will lead off the morning foursomes for the United States at 7:30 a.m. local time as the 2014 Palmer Cup gets underway at Walton Heath Golf Club.

First round foursomes pairings for the 18th edition of the event were announced at Wednesday’s opening ceremony by tournament chairman Jim Awtrey.

Schniederjans and Hagy will take on Paul Dunne of Ireland and Scotland’s Grant Forrest. The 7:44 a.m. pairing will consist of Belgium’s Thomas Detry and Jon Rahm of Spain versus Alabamans Trey Mullinax and Robby Shelton. The 7:58 a.m. tee time matches Ricardo Gouveia of Portugal and Erik Oja of Sweden with Rico Hoey and Jack Maguire. The 8:12 group matches Spain’s Pep Angles and Louis Tomlinson of England against Wyndham Clark and Anthony Maccaglia. The final game of the morning session will see Scotland’s Jack McDonald and James Ross battle Bryson Dechambeau and Stewart Jolly.

Afternoon four-ball matches are scheduled begin at 1:30 p.m. with pairings to be determined.

Schniederjans is the eighth Georgia Tech golfer to participate in this Ryder Cup-style competition since 1998, when All-Americans Matt Kuchar and Bryce Molder competed for the American side.

The United States leads the all-time Palmer Cup series 9-7-1.
