Career Notes

One of the nation’s top-rated prep big men out of high school who earned a spot in Tech’s starting lineup from the beginning of his freshman season … Elected to transfer following his sophomore year (2013-14) … Had 12 double-digit rebound games in his career, five as a freshman and seven as a sophomore … Scored in double digits 15 times as a sophomore, and 29 times in his career … Started 44 straight games in his career, and had become one of the dominant interior players in the ACC before injuring his knee at Charlotte Dec. 29 last season.

Twice invited to participate in training camp for USA Basketball, last summer for the Under-19 team to prepare for the FIBA Americas U19 Championships in the summer of 2013 … Participated in the USA U18 trials in the summer of 2012.

Versatile player with a complete skill set, good shooting touch from the perimeter and the skill to be able to stretch defenses … Difficult to guard in the post and keep off of the backboards … Plays unselfishly and passes the ball well.

Established himself as a force in the post in the non-conference season before suffering a torn meniscus in his left knee at Charlotte on Dec. 29 … Had surgery Jan. 7 and missed Tech’s first 10 ACC games … Returned to action Feb. 8 vs. Virginia and scored in double digits in eight of 10 games, averaging 12.9 points and 7.2 rebounds while hitting 43.8 percent from the floor and 10-of-37 from three-point range … Last four regular season games (16.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 52.1 pct. Earned a spot in Tech’s starting lineup for the season-opener and held on to it … Made the Coaches ACC All-Freshman team … Tech’s second-leading scorer at 9.9 ppg (14 double-digit scoring games, seven in ACC games) and led the team in rebounds (6.7 per game, 12th in the ACC), two ahead of Daniel Miller… In ACC games: 9.9 ppg (team-high) and 6.5 rpg (2nd on the team), 44.6 pct. Played his senior season at Shiloh High School in Snellville, Ga., for coach Kim Rivers, and earned first-team all-state honors in class AAAAA by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution … Averaged 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Generals went 19-3, made it out of the region 8AAAAA playoffs but lost in the second round of the state tournament to eventual champion Milton … Earned second-team all-state honors as a junior at class AA Thomasville High School, where he averaged 20.3 points, 14 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game for coach Ben Tillman … Helped the Bulldogs to three straight region 1-AA titles … Ranked No. 33 nationally (6th among power forwards) in the Rivals150 prep player rankings in the class of 2012 … Rated 21st among the nation’s seniors according to ESPN, also ranked 7th among the nation’s power forwards by ESPN.
