One of the top defensive ends in college football and a likely first-round NFL draft pick… named first team All-American (AFCA)… a first team All-ACC selection… a member of most special teams… one of three team captains… a menacing figure at 6-7… led the team and ranked third in the ACC in tackles-for-loss (17.5)… ranked third in the ACC in sacks (9.0)… forced three fumbles, recovered one fumble and had one interception return for a touchdown… had one blocked field goal… credited with seven pass break-ups… only 10 players in NCAA history have blocked more career field goals (3)… had 31 career tackles-for-loss, which ranks tied for 16th in Tech history… his 19 career sacks rank seventh in Tech history… caused 10 fumbles during his career… was a bright spot in Tech[apos]s Chick-fil-A Bowl loss to LSU (Dec. 31)… all three of his tackles were for loss, including two sacks, and he forced a Tiger fumble… recorded seven tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a sack and a pass break-up at Georgia (Nov. 29)… recorded his first career interception and returned it 26 yards for a touchdown against No. 23 Miami (Nov. 20)… also had a tackle-for-loss and two pass break-ups against the Hurricanes… tied for a team-high with six tackles and had one sack for a loss of 16 yards at 19th-ranked North Carolina… named the ACC co-Defensive Lineman of the Week after recording one sack for a loss of 10 yards and a forced fumble vs. Florida State (Nov. 1)… had two tackles-for-loss, one sack and a forced fumble vs. Virginia (Oct. 25)… recorded 10 tackles, 4.5 tackles-for-loss and 1.5 sacks vs. Gardner-Webb (Oct. 11)… had a tackle-for-loss and one sack vs. Duke (Oct. 4)… was at his disruptive best in the Mississippi State game (Sept. 20)… blocked a Bulldog field goal attempt, had one sack, one fumble recovery, broke up two passes and had a pair of solo tackles… teamed with Derrick Morgan for a bone-crushing sack of Virginia Tech[apos]s Tyrod Taylor (Sept. 13)… overcame double-teams to get three tackles, including one tackle for-loss, at Boston College (Sept. 6)… the preseason All-ACC defensive end missed most of the season opener vs. Jacksonville State (Aug. 28) because of dehydration… an outstanding member of most of Tech[apos]s special teams… a remarkable athlete who can change the direction of a game in the blink of the eye… an extremely good pass-rusher… one of the most impactful special teams players in the ACC with his ability to block kicks… has overcome numerous injuries in his career.

2007
Saw action in all 13 games, coming off the bench in basically every passing situation… started in the Humanitarian Bowl… his three forced fumbles ranked tied for seventh in the ACC and tied for 55th nationally… had 21 tackles including 11 solos… had 6.0 TFLs and 4.0 sacks… led the team with four QB hurries… led the team in blocked kicks (2)… forced three fumbles and recovered one…both of his tackles in the season opener at Notre Dame (Sept. 1) were for loss… also had one sack, one forced fumble and one QB hurry against the Irish… recovered a fumble the next week vs. Samford (Sept. 8)… forced a fumble, had a tackle-for-loss and three total tackles at Virginia (Sept. 22)… had a season-high two quarterback hurries at Miami (Oct. 13)… was at his best in the Virginia Tech game (Nov. 1)… had two sacks, seven total tackles, five solo efforts, blocked a Hokie kick, forced a fumble and had one QB hurry… had a sack at Duke (Nov. 10)… blocked a potential game-winning field goal by North Carolina (Nov. 17) as time expired.

2006
Second on the team with five sacks despite starting only one game… tallied 33 tackles, six tackles-for-loss, three forced fumbles and two pass break-ups… made two key plays in Tech[apos]s win over Maryland with sacks on the Terps[apos] final two snaps… with the Jackets leading 27-23 in the final minute, Maryland faced third-and-goal at the Tech four-yard line, when Johnson burst off the edge to sack QB Sam Hollenbach for a 10-yard loss and an additional five yards for grounding… Johnson again sacked Hollenbach on fourth down to preserve the victory… sat out the first two games of the season due to injury, then had five tackles, a sack, two pass break-ups and a forced fumble against Troy… had five tackles with two tackles-for-loss, including one sack, vs. Miami… had a sack and two forced fumbles against Wake Forest.

2005
Against Connecticut, he forced a fumble on kickoff coverage that Tech recovered to set up a touchdown… had a sack against Virginia Tech… totalled six tackles on the season… saw most of his action on special teams… one of eight true freshmen to play in 2005.

High School
One of the nation[apos]s top prep tight ends… team captain and MVP for coach Richard Bush at Dallas County High… caught 42 passes for 650 yards and six touchdowns as a senior while making 92 tackles and 14 sacks… had 25 receptions for 300 yards and three touchdowns as a junior… also an outstanding basketball player, who averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds as a junior.
