Was one of the most talented and versatile defensive backs in the ACC… played in 54 career games, tying for the most in Georgia Tech history… played every position in the secondary… was the Yellow Jackets[apos] top cover corner but moved to safety because of injuries to teammates… was also a solid kick and punt returner… has a love for the game… was one of the hardest hitters on the team and a great open-field tackler… recorded 234 career tackles… had nine interceptions over the last three seasons… learned a great deal in 2009 as the back-up to Morgan Burnett, who now plays for the Green Bay Packers… moved from A-back to defensive back in August, 2009.
2013 (senior): Invited to play in two postseason all-star games including the East-West Shrine Game… named third team All-ACC by Phil Steele… twice named ACC Defensive Back of the Week… was on the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award… played and started in all 13 games… led the team in solo tackles (73), total tackles (88) and pass break-ups (8)… forced a fumble and had three solo tackles in the season opener vs. Elon (Aug. 31)… recorded seven tackles at eventual ACC Coastal Division champion Duke (Sept. 14)… had six tackles, five solo tackles and broke up two passes vs. Virginia Tech (Sept. 26)… registered seven solo tackles, one sack and a forced fumble in a 56-0 shutout of Syracuse (Oct. 19)… recorded a career-high 15 tackles, including 12 solo stops, and two pass break-ups at Virginia (Oct. 26)… had an interception, a sack and six solo tackles vs. Pittsburgh (Nov. 2)… forced a fumble and had a sack at Clemson (Nov. 14)… registered nine tackles and his second interception of the season in the regular season finale vs. Georgia (Nov. 30)… matched his career high with 15 solo tackles and recorded a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss vs. Ole Miss in the Music City Bowl (Dec. 30).
2012 (junior): Started all 14 games… ranked second on the team in total tackles (86) and led the team in solo tackles (61)… led the team in interceptions (4)… had three tackles for loss… credited with six pass break-ups… recorded six tackles and an interception vs. Miami (Sept. 22)… had a career-high 11 tackles, including eight solo tackles, at Clemson (Oct. 6)… matched his career high with 11 tackles vs. BYU (Oct. 27)… registered two tackles for loss and an interception in the win at Maryland (Nov. 3)… had nine tackles, including seven solo tackles, vs. Duke (Nov. 17)… had eight tackles and a spectacular one-handed interception against Florida State in the ACC Championship Game (Dec. 1).
2011 (sophomore): Played in all 13 games and made two starts — vs. Clemson and vs. Utah in the Hyundai Sun Bowl… his three interceptions tied for the team lead and ranked tied for 10th in the ACC… had two rushing attempts — both on fake punt attempts — for a total of 29 yards… took over punt return duties late in the season and finished with three returns for 31 yards (10.3 yards per attempt)… finished with 50 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks and one quarterback hurry…. had five tackles and a sack in key home win vs. North Carolina (Sept. 24)… sprinted 27 yards on a fake punt attempt at NC State (Oct. 1)… enjoyed perhaps the best game of his young career in a win over sixth-ranked Clemson (Oct. 29)… picked off two Tiger passes — the first two interceptions of his career — both in the fourth quarter to preserve Tech[apos]s win… also had a tackle for loss, a forced fumble and the first punt return (7 yards) of his career… also preserved a Tech win at Duke (Nov. 19) when he picked off a Blue Devil pass late in the fourth quarter… added six tackles (5 solos), a tackle for loss and a 14-yard punt return in Durham… had eight tackles, a sack and a 10-yard punt return vs. Utah in the Hyundai Sun Bowl (Dec. 31).
2010: Redshirted… maintained a good attitude and worked hard for the scout team.
2009 (true freshman): Served as the top back-up to Morgan Burnett at the rover position… came off the bench to record 10 tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass break-up… recorded three tackles, including an impressive takedown on a kickoff, vs. Georgia (Nov. 28)… had two tackles in the win at Vanderbilt (Oct. 31)… recovered a Jacksonville State fumble in his first collegiate game on Sept. 5…. one of seven true freshmen to play key roles in 2009… moved from A-back to defensive back in early August.
High School: Fitzgerald High School… a Scout.com three-star recruit… 2008 Class AA Defensive Player of the Year (AJC)… Class AA first team all-state selection (GHSA and AJC), all-district and was named to the North-South All-Star Classic roster… rushed 59 times for 518 yards (8.8 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns in 2008… defensively, had 140 tackles (84 solo) with three blocked field goals and four interceptions… coached by Robbie Pruitt… also ran track.
