As A Junior In 2012-13: Was Georgia Tech[apos]s leading finisher in the 200 breast the ACC Championships, posting an 11th-place finish in a season-best time of 1:58.86 and pacing three Yellow Jackets in the points… Recorded his season-best time of 55.48 in the 100 breast at the Yellow Jacket Championship Qualifier… His season-best 200 IM time came during the Georgia Tech Invitational… Won the 200 breast at the GT Invitational.
As A Sophomore In 2011-12: As A Sophomore In 2011-12: Won seven individual events, including Tech[apos]s first-ever gold in the 200 breast at the ACC Championship to earn All-ACC honors… His gold was the Yellow Jackets[apos] first ACC men[apos]s individual swimming gold since Gal Nevo in 2012… Was clocked in a season-best 1:57.01 in winning the 200 breast… He finished fifth in the 100 breast (54.78 – career-best time) at the ACC Championship and was 23rd in the 200 IM (1:50.04)… Won the 200 breast in four other meets – vs. North Carolina, vs. Florida State and NC State, vs. Virginia Tech and Miami and vs. Emory… Also won the 100 breast in the dual meet versus UNC… His 100 and 200 breast times were also season-bests for the Yellow Jackets… Was a part of the 400 medley relay that finished second at the Georgia Tech Invitational in a season-best time of 3:18.90 – the eighth-fastest time in Tech history.
As A Freshman In 2010-11: One of two Tech athletes to earn All-ACC honors after his third place finish in the 200 breast at the ACC Championships … His 200 breast finish of 1:56.74 was the team[apos]s best on the year, a career best and the second fastest in school history … Netted a team best time of 54.98 seconds in the 100 breast, finishing ninth at the ACC Championships … Took 10th in the 200 IM at the ACC Championships with a team and career best time of 1:48.24 … Also a member of the 400 medley relay team that set the sixth fastest time in school history with a time of 3:17.07 … Earned nine first place finishes on the year, two in the 100 breast, four in the 200 breast, two in the 200 IM and one in the 100 fly where he set a career best time of 51.14 at Florida.
Before Tech: Member of the Swedish Nationals Junior and Senior teams from 2008-2010 and currently holds the Swedish Junior Record in the 200-Breast … Most recently represented his country at the 2009 European Championships … Has swam faster in the 200 meter breaststroke than any American high school swimmer in the class of 2010 … Ranked one of the top-25 male swimmers in Sweden.
Personal: Born Anton Karl Christer Lagerqvist on January 30, 1991 in Gotenborg, Sweden … Parents are Christer and Liz Lagerqvist … Has two younger siblings Olof and Olivia … Began swimming because of his love for the water … His most memorable moment in the pool came at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Belgrade, Serbia in 2007 when he came in second place in the 200-Breast … Undecided in his major.
