Rohan Sachdev Joins Men’s Tennis

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis will add transfer Rohan Sachdev to its 2022-23 roster, Byers Men’s Tennis Head Coach Kenny Thorne announced Wednesday. Sachdev, a blue-chip, five-star recruit out of high school, played his freshman season at Purdue.

“We’re excited to bring Rohan to Georgia Tech,” commented Thorne. “He has grit and some college experience that will fit in well with our hard-working culture on and off the court. We are excited about the season and Rohan will definitely contribute to our success.”

During the 2021-22 season, Sachdev appeared in all 24 dual matches as a Boilermaker. In fall tournament action, the Cary, N.C., native went 10-6 in singles action and 6-6 overall in doubles play, highlighted by a 3-0 record in the Purdue Fall Invite with teammate Athell Bennett. In dual match play, Sachdev went 13-9 in singles, posting a 5-3 record at No. 5 and 6-4 ledger at No. 6. He also went 1-1 in doubles action in the spring, collecting a 6-4 decision with Julen Morgan against Saint Louis.

Sachdev attended Enloe Magnet for his preparatory years and was ranked as high as No. 31 in the nation by Tennis Recruiting Network, No. 2 in Tennis RPI and No. 12 in the Boys 18 USTA National Rankings. During his USTA career, Sachdev won 37 singles and 13 doubles titles while reaching 77 finals. A highlight of his USTA career included defeating UTR World No. 1 college player, Alexis Galarneau, and capturing the 2019 Kalamazoo Boys 16s National Hard Court Championships.

He also helped lead Enloe Magnet to a NCHSAA Class 4A Dual-Team State Championship his freshman season. During the span of 2019-21, Sachdev posted a 47-17 record in singles play, going 5-3 against blue chip recruits and 41-12 against ranked opponents.

Sachdev joins a recruiting class that features Robert Bauer (Laurel Springs High School/Suwanee, Ga.) and Elias Shokry (Georgia Connections Academy/Marietta, Ga.).
