THE FLATS – Georgia Tech head golf coach Bruce Heppler and the Georgia Tech golf team enjoyed a record fund-raising effort at its Ramblin’ Wreck Cup, the principal fund-raising event for the Yellow Jackets’ program, at the Golf Club of Georgia.
The annual event typically attracts several former Tech greats and some current PGA Tour players, as well as all the current members of the Yellow Jackets’ team. Every group has one tour pro or a current or former Tech player. Dinner and a raffle for prizes follows the golf competition. Heppler noted Monday the event attracted a record level of donations.
“It’s one of the largest events we have ever had,” said Heppler. “This event has been the foundation of our program since it began. It’s great for our donors to meet and spend the day with current and former players. It provides them with the special opportunity to see what their investment in people has produced through the years. I sincerely appreciate the donors and alums for making this day a priority on their schedules.”
This year’s event was attended by current Yellow Jacket pros Chesson Hadley, Troy Matteson, Bryce Molder and Ollie Schniederjans, as well as Bo Andrews, Drew Czuchry, J.T. Griffin, Seth Reeves, Kyle Scott and James White, as well as a host of other former players.
Top honors in the net score race went to Frank Brown, David Hunter, Scott Price and Vincent Whaley. The group of Bo Andrews, Adam Cohan, Herbert Humphrey and Kris Mikkelsen took first place in gross score.
