Tuscaloosa, Ala. – Georgia Tech junior Marko Rajevac advanced to the finals in the Flight B bracket of the Crimson Tide Fall Tournament in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Rajevac defeated conference foe Liron Strauss of Wake Forest, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Rajevac started the morning winning in quarterfinal action against the number three seed Alexis Rafidison of Pepperdine. In the semifinals, Rajevac took Wake Forest’s Strauss to three sets. The junior from Belgrade, Yugoslavia took the first set 6-2 before falling in the second set 6-3. In the third and final set, Rajevac took the set 6-4 to advance to the finals.
Sophomore Zachary Rath advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket. Rath defeated Andrew Hamar of Wake Forest and UAB’s Sebastian Falk to reach the finals.
Senior Noah Tyler also picked up two wins for the Jackets, taking out James Bryce of Samford in the morning and Wake Forest’s John Shults in afternoon action.
Freshmen Scott Blackmon and George Gvelesiani both won their morning round, before falling in afternoon action. Blackmon defeated the number five seed Irving Morales or Troy before falling to Eric Hechtman of new conference foe Miami. Gvelesiani knocked off Richard Turner of Birmingham Southern in early action before being beaten by Charles Sator of Wake.
Both of Tech’s doubles teams, Blackmon/Rajevac and Gvelesiani/Tyler, advanced to the quarterfinals.
